Relaunching the Hurm Studio site!

I've just finished updating the Hurm Studio website design. It's a variation on the new design I recently gave the Hurm Store, with some minor adjustments. The updated design and site map is much simpler than it has been in the past, and it now sticks very close to its new focus as my online portfolio. Over the next few weeks I'll be updating the entries in the portfolio—expect some major text updates, some new entries, and some older items to get removed.

Playtime Projects: "Thinking of You"

New Playtime Projects merchandise is now available in the Hurm Store (www.hurm.com/store/products/thinking-of-you.php)! The new swag uses a new design called "Thinking of You." The design features the orange generic puppette poetically summarizing your lifelong feelings for humanity—it's pure poetry suitable for t-shirts, mugs, or even posters for your wall.

I needed a project this week to fill up my free time, so I decided to recreate the Hurm Store!

Completely recreated from the ground-up, this flashy update to the Hurm Store makes it a fitting home for merchandise from Heroes Incorporated®, Local Heroes, Playtime Projects, and all things from Hurm.

Not every item has been migrated from the clunky old store to the new version, but they will all be added back over time along with some new ones—including a way to buy custom art from me, Keith Quinn!

Yesterday, most of the Dungeon Runners staff was let go from NCsoft, including myself. San Diego Comic-Con 2008

I'll be going to the San Diego Comic-Con again this year! I won't have a table, but I'll be there walking around most of the time, watching and mingling. I went to this Comic-Con for the past two years, and only posted about it afterward. This year will be a little different. While there, I may make some updates to this website, via my Flickr account, or even to my barely-used Twitter account.

Updating My Movable Type

I'm posting this from my iPhone. That's actually the second update. The plugin that helps for easier posting from my phone depends on the first update, which was me taking a big leap of faith and bringing my Movable Type installation from 3.x up to 4.x version. Both changes may help me make posts from Comic-Con, which happens next week! So exciting!

I got my last wisdom tooth out this afternoon. Also, my videocard went bad yesterday, but a replacement is on the way. For these reasons, Local Heroes will be late this week.

I love Indiana Jones and the previous movies—Raiders of the Lost Ark is my favorite movie. I love his confidence and capability. I love that these are modernized 1930s/1940s movie serials. I love that Indy is a skeptic even in the face of dramatic mystical events. I love that Indy has his simple flaws (snakes) and his major ones. But. . . .

The Dentist and the Lizard

I went to my dentist yesterday (Dr. Mollie Kentor—a great dentist!). I needed some work done on a couple of teeth.

After I sat down and they started prepping, but before any actual work begun, a small green lizard skittered across the floor. This freaked out my dentist and her assistant for a bit. After a few moments it became clear that they weren't the greatest lizard-catchers. So I sat up and took off the dental-bib and began stalking the beast. They gave me a small cup, which I used to wrangle my prey. Within a few minutes, I had him cupped. I brought him outside and let him go. When I returned, I was greeted with thanks and sighs of relief.

Moment later, we saw a different lizard outside the window. He seemed angry that his buddy wasn't there waiting for him. Angry at us.

Third Birthday for Local Heroes!

Woo-whee! Today is the third birthday for Local Heroes; three years ago today, I released the first three Local Heroes strips.

We need a little something to help mark the day. What to use, what to use.... Ah, I know! In the comic, Squire is part of Local Chapter 37 super-team, which in turn is part of the larger UNIONS super-franchise. Sure, an organization as large as UNIONS has it's own website? It didn't but now it does! Let's go peruse the all-new, all-official LocalHeroes.info!
