Staple 2009 Snapshots

This past Saturday, I was at Staple!, the independent media expo. It was quite a hoot! Accompanied by the lovely Susan Kath, I chatted with fans and friends alike, including old pal Anthony Rezendes from Cranium Comics and new acquaintance Dean Trippe (creator of Butterfly and founder of Project Rooftop).

I took a few snapshots of the expo, and one movie worth sharing. (I've been trying video sharing services Vimeo and YouTube. The quality of Vimeo movies are very nice, but YouTube is so ubiquitous I don't know if I should avoid co-posting movies to both places.)

Working on Star Wars: The Old Republic

It's my third day as a contract designer at BioWare, and I'm loving it! I'm working on the recently-announced Star Wars: The Old Republic massively-multiplayer online game. I'm still learning about things, but today promises to be very productive.

Richard Garriott in Space

In case you didn't know, Richard Garriott, creator of the Ultima computer games and Tabula Rasa, is going into space at 3:00am Eastern Time. As part of "Expedition 18," he'll be going up in a Soyuz rocket (which is sort of like the "classic rockets" used by the US before switching tot he Space Shuttle). Richard will be staying on the International Space Station for a few days before he comes back down.

Relaunching the Hurm Studio site!

I've just finished updating the Hurm Studio website design. It's a variation on the new design I recently gave the Hurm Store, with some minor adjustments. The updated design and site map is much simpler than it has been in the past, and it now sticks very close to its new focus as my online portfolio. Over the next few weeks I'll be updating the entries in the portfolio—expect some major text updates, some new entries, and some older items to get removed.

Playtime Projects: "Thinking of You"

Relaunching the Hurm Store!

I needed a project this week to fill up my free time, so I decided to recreate the Hurm Store!

Completely recreated from the ground-up, this flashy update to the Hurm Store makes it a fitting home for merchandise from Heroes Incorporated®, Local Heroes, Playtime Projects, and all things from Hurm.

Not every item has been migrated from the clunky old store to the new version, but they will all be added back over time along with some new ones—including a way to buy custom art from me, Keith Quinn!

Will Design Games for Food!

Yesterday, most of the Dungeon Runners staff was let go from NCsoft, including myself. San Diego Comic-Con 2008

I'll be going to the San Diego Comic-Con again this year! I won't have a table, but I'll be there walking around most of the time, watching and mingling. I went to this Comic-Con for the past two years, and only posted about it afterward. This year will be a little different. While there, I may make some updates to this website, via my Flickr account, or even to my barely-used Twitter account.
