Apparently, the ability to comment in the Hurm news section and Local Heroes site has been disabled for weeks, or maybe even months. Probably when I last upgraded. Anyway, I found the issue and you can now comment again. Yay!
The issue centered on one of the Movable Type comment-based plugins I use. I disabled that plugin and things started working fine. (Thanks to Sarah at Six Apart for the suggestion!)
This particular plugin was not critical to how I set up my sites. However, it's one that I like a lot, so I'll be looking to see if there's an upgrade or suitable replacement.
